According to the company’s data, which was shared with Narcity, you can expect to pay big bucks if you want to buy a detached property in the filming location of so many of Canada’s own most beloved shows.
In some cases, property prices have actually spiked by a whopping 93.2%!
Their research was compiled using the average value of homes within each of the filming locations and the price-increase was sourced via real estate site Zolo.ca.
While these prices only reflect the cost of properties within the neighbourhood location (not the entire filming set featured in each series) it’s pretty cool to dream about living alongside the Rose family, right?!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Cerberus Books
If you’ve ever dreamed of living beside Cerberus Books from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, you’ll need to be ready to drop some serious cash.
The true location is in Cloverdale, Surrey, in B.C., where the average price of a detached house is $1.2 million and an average home sells for $942,025.
Condos are a little cheaper at around $427,000, but prices are rising at a yearly rate of 19.4%.
The Handmaid’s Tale: The Waterford’s House
While The Handmaid’s Tale is mainly set in Boston, The Waterford’s House is located in Hamilton, Ontario.
Property is certainly not cheap here, with the average home selling for $645,932.
Detached houses sold for around $938,000, with condos in the area going for $412,000 as standard.
What’s most shocking is the 93.2% price spike since last year! Eek!
Schitt’s Creek: Rosebud Motel
The Rosebud Motel from Schitt’s Creek has recently gone on the market for a whopping $2 million, but it’s a little cheaper to buy a different type of home in the area.
In Orangeville, Ontario, the average home sale price was $759,673, while a detached home will probably set you back $804,000.
Condos cost around $548,000, with prices going up by 25.3% in the last year.
The Umbrella Academy: Sir Reginald Hargreeves’ Old Mansion
Also in Hamilton, but in a slightly different area, is Sir Reginald Hargreeves’ old mansion from The Umbrella Academy.
If you’re interested in a property in this postal code, an average home costs $491,722.
While condos are surprisingly expensive at around $712,000 as standard, detached homes cost less at about $493,000.
Riverdale: Betty Cooper/Jughead Jones’ House
Riverdale fans will need to be ready to spend a lot of money if they want to relocate to one of the show’s iconic B.C. filming locations.
Betty Cooper/Jughead Jones’ house in the series is filmed in New Westminster, where the average house price is an eye-watering $1,443,478.
For a detached home in this area, you’ll need a staggering $1.6 million in the bank, or $485,000 for an average condo.
Riverdale: Archie’s House
The real estate situation near Archie’s house in Grandview-Woodland is pretty similar, with properties selling for $1,287,810 on average.
You’ll need to drop $1.7 million for a detached home, while an apartment will still require a hefty sum of around $662,000.
