You Can Climb BC's Breathtaking 4-km Lakeside Staircase Trail This Summer

Breathtaking literally and figuratively.
Staff Writer

The higher the climb, the better the view. Why bother hitting the gym when you can work out your legs and glutes while soaking up the sunshine? The next time you want to get your endorphins pumping, climb this 4-kilometre mountain staircase trail in B.C. to a breathtaking lake lookout.

When it comes to fitness hikes, the first that comes to mind might be the famous Grouse Grind. But let's face it: sometimes we aren't up to the challenge of its thousands of steps.

Thankfully, there is an easier alternative that boasts a remarkable view. The next time you are in Kelowna, you need to try the Apex Trail in Knox Mountain Park.

Located north of downtown Kelowna, the hiking route is perfect for getting a workout while enjoying breathtaking sights. The trail is easy enough that most people can complete it in around an hour.

It is a steep incline the entire way up, but it isn't too challenging. To help you reach the top there are stairs in sections of the path.

Once you finally reach the summit, you'll want to take a break and savour the view. From the Apex Lookout at the summit, you can enjoy a panoramic lookout that we would never tire of.

From the high lookout point, you can enjoy one of the best views in the area. You'll be able to see the city, West Kelowna and the bright blue waters of Lake Okanagan.

The view here is so stunning, you'll for sure want to take a few minutes to enjoy the view. We suggest you take a break here in the wooden structure.

It provides fantastic views and an escape from the sun, so you can cool down before returning to your car.

At the moment, the hike is one-way. So make sure to follow the path along the road to get back to the parking lot.

Are you up for the challenge? If so, it is time to lace up your sneakers and see how long it takes you to reach the top.

Address: Knox Mountain Park, Knox Mountain Dr., Kelowna, BC

Why You Need To Go: You can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Okanagan and downtown Kelowna.

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
