This sandy island beach in Ontario has sparkling clear water and is 'never crowded'

It's a dreamy spot for a summer escape.

Lead Writer, Travel

There's nothing like a summer beach day and Ontario has so many gorgeous shorelines to enjoy. If you're dreaming of basking in the sand without the crowds, you'll want to plan a summer escape to this quiet beach with crystal-clear water.

Located on an island, the beach is a ferry-ride away from Ontario mainland and features 2 kilometres of soft-sand shores along Lake Huron. You can also drive to the island by crossing a bridge.

The ferry ride takes about 2 hours and you can enjoy turquoise water views and delicious dishes while onboard.

You can even bring your car along for the trip.

Here's what to know about this dreamy island beach in Ontario.

Providence Bay Beach is located on Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world.

The destination is "said to be the nicest beach in Northern Ontario," according to the Municipality of Central Manitoulin and boasts beautiful sunsets, live music and more.

You can take a dip in the shining lake waters and relax on the serene sandy shores. The Municipality adds that the beach is "never crowded" so can truly unwind.

You'll want to take a stroll along the picturesque Providence Bay Boardwalk, which has elevated platforms and stretches across golden sand dunes.

You can also stop by Huron Island Time for some Jamaican and Caribbean food or to cool off with an ice cream cone.

There are designated dog areas along the beach, as well as free parking and picnic areas.

If you're looking for a last-minute summer adventure, this island beach is worth a trip.
