Some kids might be overjoyed to learn that B.C. schools will restart later than planned.

On Tuesday, August 11, Education Minister Rob Fleming announced that students won't be returning to class on Tuesday, September 8 like they had planned.

The delay is being used to finalize how school operations will work and to review the BCCDC guidelines before accepting students back into the classroom.

They haven't announced just how long this will take, nor have they revealed the new start date for students.

However, he did announce that kids will be welcomed back "later in the first week of school."
