A lot of things are being done differently this year, for obvious reasons. For example, 2020's Canada Day celebrations are being held virtually. However, they'll still have plenty to enjoy, including fireworks and some truly awesome Canadian music.

On June 15, the Ministry of Canadian Heritage announced all of the activities for the country's national celebration.

Those include both a daytime show and a nighttime show, that will feature iconic Canadian artists performing virtually for the entire country.

The celebration during the day will be dedicated to Canada's cultural diversity, indigenous culture and languages, sports, and honouring the country's frontline workers.

It will feature performances by the Atlantic Ballet of Canada, Jason Burnstick, Kelly Bado, and so many more. The show will go from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm local time (or 2:00 pm Atlantic).

The nighttime show, which starts at 8:00 PM local time (9:00 PM Atlantic), will feature musical performances by some of Canada's biggest names.

Those include The Sheepdogs, Joel Plaskett, Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, Alan Doyle, and Sarah McLachlan.

At the end of the night, there will be the traditional Canada Day fireworks. However, due to the current circumstances, they won't actually be set off live.

Instead, viewers will get to watch a montage of some of Canada Day's best fireworks displays from years past.

On top of the nationwide celebration, there will also be local events in towns and cities across the nation. The ministry has kept a list of municipalities that will also be holding their own events.

Canada's embassies, consulates and high commissions across the globe will also be holding their own events to celebrate the holiday.

The announcement that the annual celebrations would be held virtually was made back in April. Toronto cancelled its own Canada Day events shortly after.

Whatever happens, Canada will find a way to make July 1 special somehow!
