Some heartfelt brotherly love! Justin Trudeau's brother has been honoured many times by the prime minister following his death more than 20 years ago and it's so touching. While he doesn't talk about them often, he has quite a few other siblings as well.

Editor's Choice: Justin Trudeau Posted A Touching Tribute To His Late Brother For His Birthday

Who was Michel Trudeau?

Michel is the youngest of Pierre and Margaret Trudeau's three children.

In November 1998, he died at the age of 23 while on a skiing trip in B.C.

An avalanche swept him into a lake where he then drowned.

At the memorial service for Michel, Justin said that he remembered his brother "with a smile on his face and a dangerous mischievous glint in his eye that meant anything could happen and probably would".

Justin visited Kokanee Lake, where his brother died, with Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and their kids in 2013.

After the hike there, he told reporters that every time he goes back to that place he feels close to Michel.

He also posted a photo of his family on the mountain overlooking the lake.

While he doesn't talk about this loss very often, Justin has shared heartfelt posts about his brother in recent years.

On his birthday this year, the prime minister posted a photo of Michel on social media with a touching message.

"We think about you every day - we miss you and love you lots," he said.

Back in 2018, which also marked the 20th year since Michel passed away, Justin paid tribute to his brother by sharing a photo of the two of them.

Does Justin have other siblings?

The prime minister has quite a few siblings, all of which are younger than him, though he doesn't talk about them often.

There's Alexandre who's also known as Sacha.

Both he and Justin were born on Christmas Day just two years apart which is quite the coincidence.

Michel was the third child of Pierre and Margaret Trudeau.

All three of the brothers were born in Ottawa because their father was serving as prime minister then.

Justin also has three half-siblings, Kyle and Alicia from his mother's other marriage and Sarah from one of his father's relationships.

Who else is part of the Trudeau family?

Pierre is probably the most well-known member of the Trudeau family along with Justin as they've both served as prime minister.

Their election campaigns in 1972 and 2019 even had some eerie similarities and they both also won with a minority in their runs for re-election those years.

Justin said in his 2014 book that he believes the lights began to dim in Pierre's soul when Michel died.

He also said that his father "was never the same man."

Two years after Michel's death, Pierre died.

Justin gave the eulogy at his father's funeral which had people crying and cheering.

Then there's his mother Margaret who is an outspoken advocate for ending the stigma around mental illness.

Justin's grandfather on Pierre's side of the family was a prominent businessman in Quebec.

Finally, there's Sophie and the couple's three kids.

She was a childhood friend and classmate of Michel which is how she first met the Trudeau family.

Justin and Sophie have been married since 2005.
