Temperatures Are About To Drop In Ottawa & September 18 Could Be The Coldest Ever

Keep your coat on tonight, O-Town! 🥶
Managing Editor, Canada

If you’re a resident of Canada’s capital, you might want to stay at home this evening. Temperatures in Ottawa are expected to drop to near freezing on Thursday night, and Friday is expected to be the coldest September 18 ever recorded in the city!

According to Environment Canada the record was set back in 1943, when conditions dropped to 1.1 C on this date.

However, Ottawa’s temperature on Thursday night and into Friday morning is expected to drop even further, to just 1 C.

Interestingly, the hottest conditions recorded in O-Town came one year prior to the coldest. In 1942, it was a sweltering 31.1 C on the same date.

With an extra-cold winter forecast ahead, these chilly conditions could be an unwelcome taste of what's to come!
