That’s a lot of “trash.” Officials at the Canada-U.S. border stopped a garbage truck full of weed on Sunday and it was carrying over 1,000 pounds of the stuff.

According to a report from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office, a “trash hauler” was investigated by officials when it was crossing the Blue Water Bridge between Ontario and Michigan.

When the individual was stopped at around 11:15 p.m. on October 18, the driver told border officers they were simply transporting “municipal trash.”

1,000 Pounds of marijuana seized

However, the "garbage" was actually almost half a ton of marijuana!

According to border officials on the U.S. side, over 1,000 pounds of weed was stashed in several trash bags in the truck’s rear.

“Our officers are highly trained to spot inconsistencies, and I’m proud of their actions leading to such a significant seizure,” said Acting Port Director April Donaghy of the discovery.

This isn't the only huge stash of drugs to be discovered at the Canada-U.S. border recently.

Back in June, officers found a whopping 3,346 pounds of cannabis in a shipment moving between Ontario and New York City.

Non-essential travel between Canada and the United States is currently prohibited until at least November 21.
