If you want to squeeze a beach day or two into the last few weeks of summer, this Ontario destination with sparkling waters and sandy shores is worth a road trip.

This beautiful Ontario park is home to four beaches, scenic boardwalk trails and some crystal-clear water along the shores of Georgian Bay.

Awenda Provincial Park is a beautiful escape for anyone craving a day by the water.

Located near Penetanguishene on the shores of Georgian Bay, the park is surrounded by stunning natural scenery and offers plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors.

It's home to not one but four beaches, so there's no shortage of places to swim, relax, and soak up the views.

There's also a designated pet beach where you can hit the water with your four-legged friend, as long as they remain on a leash.

With its crystal waves and rugged shoreline, Georgian Bay can make for some spectacular beach scenery. Visitors have even called the water "Caribbean-clear," though it may feel chiller than a tropical escape.

According to the park, "the most protected and sandiest beach area is at Methodist Point Bay," so if you're looking for soft shores, you'll want to head to this spot.

You can spend the day splashing in the water, relaxing along the shore or exploring more of the area before heading home.

If you're up for some exploring, Awenda is home to around 33 kilometres of trails that take you through forests, along the shoreline and past some of the park's unique natural features.

One trail worth checking out is the Robitaille Homestead Trail, an easy three-kilometre loop that takes roughly an hour to complete. The route winds through an ancient dune system believed to have formed around 11,500 years ago, offering a closer look at the park's fascinating landscape.

You'll also find boardwalk sections along some of the trails, making it easy to explore the park's scenic terrain while helping protect its delicate ecosystems. Visitors are encouraged to stay on designated paths, particularly around the dunes.

Of course, you don't have to squeeze everything into one afternoon. Awenda has six campgrounds where you can set up for a longer stay and spend more time swimming, hiking and exploring the park.

Whether you're looking to spend the day by clear, sparkling water or wander through forests and along scenic trails, this Ontario gem has a little bit of everything.
