Kingston is a beautiful, historic city perched on the shores of Lake Ontario. Known as "Limestone City," the destination is brimming with old-world limestone architecture that will transport you back in time.

According to the City of Kingston, it was settled by Europeans in the 17th century and even became Canada's First Capital in 1841, adding to the region's deep historical roots and significance.

There's so much to enjoy around Kingston during the summer. The city is home to numerous attractions that allow you to delve into the area's past and enjoy some warm-weather fun.

One of the top attractions is the Kingston Pen Tour, which takes you through Canada's oldest and most notorious maximum-security prison.

You'll also want to check out Fort Henry National Historic Site, a 19th-century British military fortress that offers tours and demonstrations.

Other attractions include scenic trolley tours through the city or a historic boat cruise around the gorgeous Thousand Islands region.

Kingston's downtown is a beautiful spot to spend an afternoon. The main street is lined with shops and cozy cafes where you can grab a treat and a beverage.

Springer Market Square, located just up from the waterfront, is like a little slice of Europe and is home to Ontario's oldest market as well as events like outdoor movies during the summer.

Martello Alley is a hidden gem to discover downtown. The secret nook is home to an art gallery where you'll find all sorts of unique works.

Kingston offers an incredible food scene, and you can find just about every type of cuisine lining its charming downtown streets and waterfront.

From brunch at Pan Chancho to tapas at Tango Nuevo, there's something for everyone.
