Florida’s rollercoaster scene was anticipating two new additions this year with the announcement of Busch Garden’s Iron Gwazi and SeaWorld’s Ice Breaker, but the coasters’ debuts have now officially been postponed to 2021.

Orlando Sentinel reported that SeaWorld Entertainment had sustained substantial revenue losses due to a lack of park attendance during the pandemic as revealed in an earnings call or the company.

Ice Breaker will feature four launches, both backwards and forwards, culminating in a reverse launch into the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida — a 93-foot tall spike with 100-degree angle.

Iron Gwazi is a 206-foot tall hybrid coaster made from wood and steel, complete with plenty of spins and a 91-degree drop.

Orlando Sentinel quoted SeaWorld’s interim chief financial officer, Elizabeth Castro Gulacsy, saying that the rides were about 87% finished with $15 million left to complete them.

SeaWorld’s total revenue during this quarter was just $18 million, $388 short of last year’s quarter.
