If you think you've "done" Niagara Falls because you've ridden the boat, played glow-in-the-dark mini golf or taken a few misty selfies, you might want to try this on for size. It's like seeing Niagara with a jetpack and a history degree.

Niagara Takes Flight is a brand-new, fully immersive flying theatre ride that lets you experience the entire Niagara region from the sky. You're looking at 56 kilometres of aerial footage, filmed with custom drones and synced with motion, mist and other sensory effects that make you feel like you're actually flying over rapids, cliffs, historic battlefields and more.

It's part thrill ride, part cinematic history lesson, and it just might be the most innovative attraction Ontario's dropped in years. Here's what makes it worth the drive.

It's Ontario's first flying theatre

This isn't a 3D movie or a rollercoaster — it's almost both. Niagara Takes Flight lifts you off the ground with suspended seats and a 17-metre-wide curved screen that makes you feel like you're soaring over the Falls IRL.

It gives you a soaring new perspective of Niagara Falls, plus sweeping views of the vineyards, forests, fields and more that make up the full 56 kilometres of Niagara Parks.

The production crew filmed from September 2024 to January 2025 to deliver an unmatched experience of Niagara Falls and its surrounding landscape, transitioning across all four seasons.

Snow-covered cliffs, golden fall leaves, thundering rapids — you’ll see it all in a visit that takes just under thirty minutes from start to finish, no winter jacket required.

The drone footage? Unreal

Instead of using a helicopter, a custom drone was built to film Niagara Takes Flight. With this tech, the team captured all the dramatic swoops and close-up shots of the Falls that'll make your stomach drop.

Capable of flying at 150 kilometres per hour, the drone can fit through doorways and maneuver with incredible precision, to share the freedom experienced by the birds that swoop and glide over the parks.

History and culture buffs, you'll love this

Before you even "fly," you'll walk through a series of immersive storytelling rooms covering 13,000 years of Niagara history — from Indigenous legends to its remarkable geological transformation and many of the key moments that made it into what we see today.

On the ride, you'll witness a stunningly accurate re-enactment of The Battle of Old Fort Erie, where every detail was carefully considered.

In the words of Rick Rothschild, Creative Director of Niagara Takes Flight: "This film is more than just a showcase of the 56 kilometres of parkland; it aims to help understand the geology and the centuries-old human story of Niagara."

They brought in blockbuster-tier experts

If you had any doubt how serious this production is, consider that historical choreographer Peter Twist helped recreate the Battle of Old Fort Erie for Niagara Takes Flight.

Yes, the same Peter Twist who worked on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, choreographing troops, cannonballs and more to capture the essence of 19th-century combat.

It's on par with major attractions in NYC and Vegas

Experts from around the world came together to create this top-tier experience.

This ride isn't just cool "for Canada." It's world-class — designed by a former Disney Imagineer and the same tech team behind flying rides in California and Taiwan, now with the latest immersive technologies.

Among the innovations are measures to make sure Niagara Takes Flight is as accessible as possible. The preshow experience is fully accessible, and visitors who can move from their mobility device to the theatre seat can experience the whole ride too. If that's not doable, a flattened version is also shown in the accessible room.

It's a locally made masterpiece

Niagara Takes Flight is not a brochure for Niagara Parks; it's a showcase of natural beauty and community collaboration at the highest level.

The stunning visuals you'll see in this cutting-edge experience were carefully chosen and were made possible by hundreds of local extras, tour operators, local crews and creatives. It's like Niagara wrote itself a love letter.

Whether you're drawn to the history, the tech, or can't wait to experience the world's latest and greatest flying theatre, Niagara Takes Flight needs to be on your to-do list.

And the fact that it's tucked inside Table Rock Centre — steps from the actual brink of the Falls — makes it all the more surreal. It's bold. It's beautiful. And it's built for anyone who wants to see Niagara from a whole new perspective.
