Jagmeet Singh is calling on Justin Trudeau to “do more than offer words” when it comes to tackling anti-Asian racism in Canada.

In a new tweet, shared on March 22, the NDP leader said that anti-Asian hate crimes increased by 717% between 2019 and 2020 in Vancouver.

Singh went on to say that “Canada is not immune” to these issues and called on the prime minister to do more than just “offer words” — something he has asked Trudeau to do multiple times in the past.

On the same day, members of Canada’s parliament passed a motion that strongly condemned the rise of anti-Asian racism in North America, including the recent shootings in Georgia.

The motion was introduced by Jagmeet Singh during the question period on Monday.
