Jagmeet Singh's Wife Says They Won't Back Down After He Called Another MP Racist (VIDEO)

Parliament Hill had more than a minor shakeup yesterday. After refusing to apologize for calling another MP a racist, Jagmeet Singh was removed from the House of Commons. His wife, Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu, shared her support for him on social media.

She first tweeted about the event, sharing a CP24 article that covered it and writing "we don't back down✊🏾."

Kaur also shared a screenshot of the tweet on Instagram with a longer message of support for Singh's callout of another MP.

"My darling Jagmeet, don't ever back down, fight racism with every inch of your existence," she wrote, "And, I'll always walk with you on this path."

She then relayed the story to highlight her husband's actions.

As reported by CBC, Singh had put forward a motion to recognize the existence of systemic racism in the RCMP.

All but one MP, Bloc Quebecois member Alain Therrien, agreed. Therriault said "No," effectively stopping the motion.*

Singh called Therriault a racist, and was asked to apologize for his remarks.

"Apologize for calling out racism? Apologize for what he believes? Apologize for wanting a better and inclusive canada? Apologize for wanting to stop the murder of Indigenous and Black lives?" Kaur asked.

After refusing to offer Therriault an apology, Singh was asked to leave the House Of Commons for the rest of the day.

"I am so proud of my husband today for fighting back against racism and calling it out for what it is ✊🏾," Kaur wrote, concluding her post.

Singh shared a clip from a press conference he gave where he explained his actions and told the story from his point of view.

He claimed that after Therriault said no, he also waved his hand dismissively.

"I'll be honest with you, I got angry, but I'm sad now," Singh said, "Because why can't we act? Why can't we do something to save people's lives?"
