Trudeau Says It's Time To 'Start Talking' About Mental Health In Canada (VIDEO)

He also shared details about free support for Canadians.

In acknowledgement of Bell Let's Talk Day, Justin Trudeau has shared a video about the importance of discussing mental health in Canada.

In the two-minute clip, which was shared on his social media accounts, the prime minister reassured Canadians that “it’s okay not to be okay.”

He explained that during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever to look after our mental health.

“This has been a challenging time for many,” admitted Trudeau.

“You may be feeling overwhelmed by the loss of a job, anxious or uncertain about the health impacts of the virus or isolated because you’ve had to stay away from loved ones, coworkers and friends,” he said.

However, the PM promised Canadians that they are not alone as we are “all going through these challenging times together.”

He urged anybody who is struggling to consider looking at Canada’s new Wellness Together portal — a government-backed free service that connects Canadians with mental health resources, support and services.

In terms of individual action, he asked Canadians to be kind to one another as we “can’t always see the pain and sadness that others may be facing.”

He concluded the message by saying, “Let’s talk and let’s listen. Because nobody should suffer in silence.”

Trudeau isn’t the only one speaking out for Bell Let’s Talk Day.
