The complaint was made when the alert disrupted the caller's television time.

"Aaaaaand we have just received our first 911 call about the Amber Alert. Because the alert wouldn't stop on the tv," read the tweet.

Halton Police are now reminding residents to only use 911 for real emergencies.

Ottawa police issued an Amber Alert after a nine-month-old girl was abducted by her mother.

Sherma Knox, 39, was last seen carrying her daughter, Magnolia Knox, at around noon on Friday.

The girl was in a floral dress, navy leggings and tan slip-on shoes.
