Despite Doug Ford's best offer, U.S.A. COVID-19 vaccines aren't coming to Canada anytime soon.

President Biden's press secretary told reporters today that the U.S.A. won't share doses with Canada or Mexico until every American is vaccinated, despite previous pleas from Ontario's Premier.

Press Secretary Jen Psaki made the comments to a reporter at a White House press briefing on Monday morning.

Narcity reached out to Premier Ford's office for comment and will update this story when we receive a response.

Psaki said U.S.A. economic recovery depends on Mexico and Canada managing the pandemic well enough to reopen borders, but that the President is focusing on Americans first.

"The administration's focus is on ensuring that every American is vaccinated, and once we accomplish that objective we're happy to discuss further steps beyond that," Psaki said.

The news may come as a blow to Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who asked Biden to send vaccine doses back in January 2021 — even offering to drive down and pick them up himself.

"The least" Biden could do was send Canada one million vaccines, Ford said.

"Help out your neighbour. You want us all to get along, hunky-dory, kumbaya? I'm asking for your help," Ford said.
