People On Alberta Flights Keep Causing Drama & Getting Fines For Not Wearings Masks

Apparently, Transport Canada has been dishing out tickets to people on Alberta flights who are refusing to wear facemasks. 

According to data obtained by CBC News, there have been 72 incidents that resulted in fines or warning letters on Canadian airlines since the pandemic began. Of those incidents, most took place on WestJet flights and involved flights from Alberta.

36.8% Of incidents occurred on Alberta flights.

CBC News reported that 37 of the events took place at the Calgary airport. As for Edmonton, there have been 14 incidents at their airport. 

To put these numbers in perspective, the Toronto Pearson International airport, the airport with the most traffic in Canada, had 30 incidents compared to Calgary's 37. 

While 63 passengers on Canadian flights got warnings, the rest got fines. 

Fines ranged from $100 all the way up to $2,000. 

In a statement, WestJet told CBC News that passengers can choose to either wear a mask or not fly.
