The Picture Canyon Natural Preserve is a lush forest area near Flagstaff full of artifacts from the Northern Sinagua people. These petroglyphs (and the occasional piece of ancient pottery) can be found along the hike.

The Tom Moody trail takes you to a stunning waterfall that cascades down a vast rocky face.
You'll have mountain views the whole time, plus you'll get to enjoy some of the cooler Flagstaff weather as you walk.
It is asked that you don't touch or pick up any items that you see or find, to maintain the historical and cultural integrity of the preserve.
Since it's only a relatively short drive from Phoenix, you and your BFF can make a day-trip out of it.
There are three trail options within the preserve, all of which are relatively easy and moderately flat.
The area is also dog friendly, so you can take your four-legged friend along with you!
