2020 has been a rough year for all of us, but one Pittsburgh shelter dog finally got what he deserves as the year nears its end.

Capone, a 10-year old black lab, had been at the Animal Friends shelter in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 1,134 days, making him the longest-term resident in the shelter's history.

Despite being Animal Friends' longest-term resident, the team at Animal Friends never gave up in their search for his perfect match Animal Friends

As Christmas nears, Capone was able to get the best holiday gift he has ever received a new home after three long years at the shelter.

That's over 20 dog years!

The staff at Animal Friends even put together a slide show tribute for their favorite former-resident.

The staff at Animal Friends says Capone had a hard time getting adopted due to numerous behavioral and medical issues.

On average, a dog is held at a Pennsylvania no-kill shelter for around five to seven days according to a report done by the University of Michigan.
