Contributor

There's been a buzz all over social media throughout the last week or so when the new Bachelor was announced. Matt James was supposed to be on the 16th season of The Bachelorette with Clare Crawley, but the franchise had other plans for him. Fans will be able to see him on season 24 with his attempt to find love.

You might recognize James as being heart-throb, Tyler Cameron's, best friend. From being roommates in college to roommates in New York, they've been through it all together.

During quarantine, Cameron, his family, Hannah Brown and James created "The Quarantine Crew" while they isolated together in Florida for a few weeks.

The North Carolina native is making history in The Bachelor franchise, so get those applications ready and you might just meet the love of your life.

1. He was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina

2. He attended Wake Forest University where he played college football.

James played wide-receiver and graduated in 2015. He was also roommates, as well as teammates with Bachelorette's, Cameron.

3. He co-founded ABC Food Tours

The website states, "Our goal is to implement an experiential learning platform for students in NYC living in underserved communities that will educate, motivate, and inspire them to overcome life’s obstacles."

4. He has a degree in Economics and is a research analyst at a real estate company.

After the NFL didn't work out, he went on to work for PNC Bank in Pittsburgh before accepting a job at a real estate company in New York, New York.

5. James is a Lululemon Athletica Store Ambassador/model

He loves to live a healthy and active lifestyle and shows it all over his IG.

6. TikTok is his jam.

He has almost 200k followers on the app. He was also apart of the Quarantine Crew TikTok page with Hannah Brown and Tyler.

7. He's kind of a momma's boy.

It's no secret that James loves his momma; she's all over his IG. On Good Morning America he stated, "I’m looking for qualities that my mom embodies, and that’s selfless, honest, caring, compassionate and those are qualities found in women all shapes, sizes and races and it’s not a black or white thing."

8. He didn't even get to meet Clare Crawley

He was slated to be on the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, but it was postponed because of COVID-19. It's likely Clare will get a whole new cast of men.

9. He's the very first Black Bachelor

His bestie Tyler posted on IG, "Congrats to my brother @mattjames919 on being named the Bachelor. This is all a testament of who you are as a person. Now the world gets to see the person you are and the heart you have."

Casting has started and you might just be looking at your future husband.
