One of Ontario's 'most charming towns' is near Toronto and it's like a scene from a storybook

It's a little hidden gem.

Lead Writer, Travel

Ontario has its fair share of quaint small towns, and this hidden gem is worth exploring. Tucked away amidst rolling hills, this old-world village boasts storybook allure and natural wonders.

Belfountain is a cozy hamlet located in Caledon, about an hour away from Toronto. The destination was named one of Ontario's "most charming towns" by tour company Guess Where Trips, so you can expect some quaint vibes at this spot.

Settled around 1825, Belfountain will have you feeling like you've travelled back in time and is a peaceful spot to visit year-round.

One of the draws is the Belfountain Conservation Area, where you'll find picturesque trails, historic sites and a swing bridge that takes you right over a waterfall. The area closes during the winter, but it's worth keeping in mind for some warm weather adventures.

If you're looking for more nature experiences, Forks of the Credit Provincial Park is worth checking out. The park features picturesque sections of the Bruce Trail and a rushing waterfall.

Belfountain is lined with cozy cafes and quaint shops. You can warm up at the Higher Ground Café or The Belfountain Cafe and enjoy baked goods and steaming cups of coffee.

There are lots of farm markets in Belfountain and the surrounding area, so you'll want to save some time for shopping.

If you're looking for a quaint town with storybook charm and beautiful surroundings, it's time to plan a trip to this little village.
