Ontario's Theme Parks & Water Parks Are Preparing To Reopen As Part Of Stage 3
Ontario’s theme parks and water parks are probably going to look a little different when they reopen. Parks like Canada’s Wonderland and Wet’n’Wild are hoping to restart operations as part of Stage 3 in Ontario, but exactly what that will look like remains unknown. That said, you could be riding a roller coaster again before the year is out!
If you were hoping to add an amusement park or water park to your summer 2020 bucket list, there could still be hope for you yet.
After being closed for several months, Canada’s Wonderland confirmed to blogTO that it’s currently preparing to reopen for the 2020 season.
In fact, the park is hoping to restart as soon as Ontario reaches Stage 3 of its reopening plan.
The company has already started training employees for the reopening of the park, but are yet to share exactly what COVID-19 precautions will be in place.

It seems Ontario’s water parks are also getting ready to kick-start their operations, with Ottawa’s Calypso park stating that their doors could be opening by “early July.”
Noting that “waterparks will be part of the 3rd wave of Eastern Ontario’s reopening phase,” Calypso added, “We are ready with every safety measure in place to help keep our employees and guests safe.”
Toronto’s Wet’n’Wild water park is also preparing for their summer season to get started, and have already shared some possible COVID-19 restrictions.
While these plans are still subject to change, suggestions include reduced capacity, limited attractions and rides, hand sanitizing stations, enhanced cleaning and mandatory face masks in some areas.
Despite their forward-thinking, all of these parks are still waiting on the go-ahead from the Ontario government.
In Quebec, water parks like Mont Cascades have reopened and are welcoming guests back already.
“It is with great happiness that we learned the news about the reopening of the water parks and we look forward to seeing you this summer again,” the company states on their website.
Due to COVID-19, slide attendants are no longer able to help people on and off tubes, the handles of all tubes are disinfected between each customer, picnic tables and chairs are regularly cleaned, physical distancing is mandatory, plus more!
Over the last couple of months, Canada’s Wonderland has been searching for ways to keep their customers entertained during lockdown.
The venue offered virtual roller coaster experiences, as well as online fireworks displays and recipes for their most iconic park snacks.
