If you were wondering how to celebrate this year’s Super Bowl in Canada, the prime minister has got some advice.

In a new message, shared one day before the annual American sporting event, Justin Trudeau urged Canadians to cancel their Super Bowl parties and stay at home.

“Don’t be a super-spreader this #SuperBowl Sunday,” he wrote.

Instead of hosting or attending parties and events, he pleaded with sports fans to and “connect with your friends online instead.”

The Canadian PM also made reference to an age-old Super Bowl tradition — eating chilli!

“Because let’s be real,” he said. “It doesn’t matter how good their chilli recipe is, it’s not worth getting sick or putting your loved ones at risk.”

It’s a message that’s been backed-up by public health officials, too. The same day, Dr. Theresa Tam reminded Canadians that “a strong defensive front” was necessary to tackle COVID-19.

While hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the first time over the weekend, Dan Levy starred in a skit about a Super Bowl party that ends up going pretty wrong.
