A Canadian City Has A ‘Thaw Di Gras’ Carnival Every Year To Welcome Spring

Mardi Gras but make it spring!
Senior Writer

There's an annual carnival called Thaw di Gras in Dawson City to welcome spring and it's such a cool way to mark the changing of the seasons.

This is the city's favourite way to wake up after a frigid winter and celebrate spring along with the return of glorious sunshine.

During the carnival, there are so many events like a keg toss, human curling, road hockey, a hat toss, an axe toss, a log saw, a tricycle race and fireworks over the Yukon River.

It always happens sometime in March but this year Thaw di Gras coincides with the first day of spring as it runs from March 19-21.

Dawson City has been named one of the top five places to travel to in Canada for 2021 if you're looking for a post-pandemic vacation spot.
