If you've been hoping to get your hands on a government-approved face shield, now you can. The Canadian Shield has announced it's now selling are selling their famous reusable face shields for public purchase. The Ontario-based company has created over a million face shields to front-line and essential workers to help battle the looming pandemic.

The manufacturer, based in Waterloo, Ont., officially launched back in March 2020 and the Canadian government set them a goal of making 10 million face shields by August.

And, according to a press release issued by The Canadian Shield on Friday, May 29, the PPE will now be available for delivery across the country, no matter where you are in Canada.

You can purchase them in groups of two, five, or 20.

One of the two-packs will cost $19.95, a five-pack is $44.95, and a 20-pack is $159.95. The website notes they can be reused 10 to 14 times with proper cleaning.

And, as a bonus, for every shield purchased, another one will be donated to a healthcare facility in need.*

"We are extremely excited to offer our reusable face shields to both the general public as well as frontline workers. While the health and safety of frontline workers is and always has been our number one priority, it is incredibly important that the general public has access to Personal Protective Equipment as economies across the country begin to reopen," a spokesperson for The Canadian Shield said in an email to Narcity.

"By making the Canadian Shield available for consumer purchase, we hope to reduce the spread of COVID-19 while facilitating Canada’s economic recovery."

According to the release, since launching the sales portal, the manufacturer has already filled over 1,000 orders.

On May 11, the company officially announced it had hit its lofty target of creating a million face shields. It's on its way to making more.

And the great thing is, you're able to purchase as many as you need. The Canadian Shield told Narcity it's able to produce about 200,000 shields per day.

As businesses start to slowly join the reopening process in Toronto, residents are being strongly recommended to wear masks when they're out and about.

There are other companies in the GTHA making protective gear, including a group of Ontario students who have been donating 3D printed face shields to frontline health care workers.

The Canadian Shield's PPE, though, has been some of the most highly-praised.

And it sounds like, thanks to the remarkable work done in Waterloo over the last couple of months, this is something you don't have to worry about selling out.
