The Blue Jays Just Won In Front Of The Biggest Crowd Since The Pandemic Started

A lot of them were ignoring the stadium's mandatory mask policy.

While Toronto fans tuned into the Blue Jays vs. Rangers game from home, spectators in Arlington, Texas attended in huge numbers — the biggest crowd at a professional sporting event since the start of the pandemic, according to the Toronto Star.

Photos of the game show Globe Life Field packed to the brim with close to 40,000 fans, many of whom weren't wearing masks.

Texas got rid of its mask mandate on March 10, but the Texas Rangers issued a statement ahead of Monday's game saying that masks were still mandatory "except while actively eating or drinking."

However, photos shared by fans on Instagram at the game show that many folks didn't seem to carefully respect this policy.  

The Jays beat the Rangers 6-2. Toronto pitcher Steven Matz said to TSN that "it felt really good to have fans in the stands," and that it gave the team an extra boost of adrenaline.
