Ontario's July 6 COVID-19 update offered a notable milestone that suggests things are heading in the right direction.

For the first time since the end of March, there are no new COVID-19 deaths in Ontario.

0 It's the first time since March that the province has reported no new deaths from the virus.

According to the Ontario website, the death toll has stayed at 2,689. The last time the province reported zero deaths was back on March 31, according to Global News.

In the province alone, there are now a total of 35,948 cases. Monday's update noted there have been just 154 new infections reported overnight.

This update comes as more and more GTA cities are making face masks mandatory in public indoor places to prevent further spread of the virus.
