As COVID-19 cases remain high in Ontario, Doug Ford is cracking down by deploying 200 new enforcement officers in what the province is calling a "blitz."

The effort will target strategic locations, including provincial hot spots, Toronto, Peel, and York.

The Premier had a clear message for "bad actors" who are not following COVID-19 protocols.

"I'm providing a fair warning. We'll find you and slap you with a big fine. It's that simple," he told rule-breakers.

Officers will be working with businesses to check that their safety plans are in accordance with provincial and municipal COVID-19 guidelines.

Businesses found to be not in compliance can be fined $750.

Additional measures are expected to be announced tomorrow for hot-spot areas, as was hinted by Doug Ford during Thursday's press briefing, says CTV Toronto.

Ford has previously said that certain areas of the province are "staring down the barrel of another lockdown."

To date, the province has recorded 99,372 COVID-19 cases.
