On Wednesday, Toronto Traffic Services were shocked to pull over an Ontario driver whose plates had been expired for 30 years.

The officer who pulled the driver over noted that he was only 8 years old last time the plates were renewed. 

"I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that has got to be a Provincial record for most expired validation resulting in a charge," wrote Cst. Marc Taraso on Twitter.

Cst. Richard Hough was quick to debunk that claim though, informing Taraso that there was once an even older expired plate out there.

The police have been kept busy on the highways this week.

On Tuesday, police pulled over a driver travelling almost as fast as a plane down the 403. 

Their car was impounded after hitting a speed of 228 kilometres an hour.

Drivers: Stay calm, slow down, renew your plates and carry on!
