Royal life awaits you at Don Alfonso's pop-up location inside Casa Loma, which is set to open this week on Wednesday, July 21.

The world-renowned Don Alfonso 1890 closed its doors in October 2020 due to COVID-19 regulations but has risen once again for a pop-up experience like no other.

You can enjoy fine dining worthy of a Michelin Star inside the castle's dreamy conservatory with mouth-watering food for a limited time only. So, if you didn't get a chance to check it out the first time around, here's what you can look forward to.

The Space

If you've ever been to Casa Loma, you know the conservatory is hands down one of the coolest rooms inside. Tables are set up with clean white linens and have views that overlook the castle's gardens.

With tall arching windows, lush greenery and twinkling chandeliers hanging from the high ceilings, the setting will definitely have you feeling all kinds of fancy.

The room is filled with natural light, and the circular stained-glass ceiling will definitely catch your eye.

The Food

The Don Alfonso pop-up is brought to life by executive chef Daniele Corona, who has been trained by Michelin-starred chefs Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino.

Taking inspiration from the Amalfi Coast, where Corona hails from, the menu uses a lot of Mediterranean flavours and will introduce you to all sorts of new textures. It does come at a higher price point though, so expect to pay anywhere from $24 to $76 for one dish.

The Rigatoni Vesuvio is creamy and delicious and comes with Parmigiano Reggiano that's been aged for 36 months. Pasta lovers will swoon!

The L'anatra – thinly sliced duck with mashed gala apples and a balsamic reduction on the side will melt in your mouth and leave you craving more with every bite.

The Il Bisonte is really decadent, with seared organic bison tenderloin wrapped in flakey swiss and mozzarella cheese with green salsa, red chilli reduction and San Marzano tomato.

For dessert, the Mediterraneo is a must-try. The pistachio ravioli base crumbles like a cookie in your mouth while the fresh Sicilian orange slices have got a real citrusy freshness. The dish tastes like a fancy fruit salad in desert form.

The Drinks

A dinner date is never complete without an equally fancy cocktail, and Don Alfonso comes prepared. With an extensive cocktail and wine list, every type of drinker can find a delicious beverage to accompany their meal.

The Strawberry Field is mixed with tangerine gin, strawberry syrup, a herb liquor from France and lemon juice. Served on the ice, this tropical drink tastes light and refreshing.
