Marc Gasol Is Reportedly Leaving The Raptors and Going To The LA Lakers

Both Serge and Marc leaving in one day hurts. 😔
Staff Writer

It's been a rough day for Raptors fans and it's not getting any better.

The Athletic's Shams Charania tweeted on Sunday night that Marc Gasol has agreed to a deal to play with the LA Lakers.

Gasol would be the second former Raptor to sign with an LA-based team in 24 hours, after reports emerged late Saturday night that Serge Ibaka had signed with the LA Clippers.

Gasol would join a Lakers team that features LeBron James and that just won the 2020 NBA Championship.

He was traded to the Raptors from the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, one of the last pieces added to a roster that eventually won their own NBA championship.

And his leadership and playoff experience was vital in helping the Raps claim the NBA crown.

Gasol had tons of memorable moments with the Raptors off the court, too, including the time he swigged champagne and made drunk comments to Prime Minister Trudeau and at the Raptors victory parade in 2019.

We'll miss you, Marc!
