Niagara is one of Ontario's must-visit destinations. From ziplines to waterfall ferries, there are tons of things to do and see. Soon, there will be yet another reason to visit the area. A massive new attraction is in the works, and it will take you through a hidden tunnel right to the base of the falls. Mark your calendars, because the Niagara Power Generating Station is opening as an immersive visitor experience next summer.

The Canadian Niagara Power Generating Station is a massive facility that operated for around 100 years.

The visual landmark sits atop Horseshoe Falls and boasts majestic limestone walls and architecture.

In 2006 the station was decommissioned, and now it's about to be used in a very different way.

The building is being transformed into an incredible, multi-faceted attraction that will exhibit and preserve its significance.

Phase one of the project is set to open in July 2021. This instalment will feature an immersive light and sound experience.

Each night, the station will come alive with luminous 3D projection mapping that displays the landmark's history and impressive architecture.

Phase one will also include three interactive experiences for guests to enjoy.

You'll be able to follow the flow of water to the turbines through augmented reality and even manipulate sounds and illusions in the control room by using the century-old levers and buttons.

Phase two of the experience will open in July 2022. In this portion of the attraction, you'll be able to explore deep beneath the ground.

A glass elevator will transport guests 200 feet below the main floor to the massive tunnel that connects the station to the Niagara River.

After wandering around, the century-old tunnel will lead to the base of Horseshoe Falls.

The journey will be filled with projection mapping technology that will bring the tunnel to life.
