Officers responded to the call at 10:03 a.m. on July 11 in the area of Finch Avenue West and Weston Road, according to their news release

When police arrived at the apartment building, they discovered the two children both suffering from stab wounds.

The release says that the unnamed 36-year-old mother has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and assault.

Her identity has been concealed to prevent disclosing the names of the victims.

A police tweet from the incident confirms that Toronto Medics "advised injuries are life threatening."

According to CTV News, the children were taken to SickKids Hospital and are no longer in critical condition. They are both expected to recover.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the apartment unit is now a crime scene

So far, the details of this investigation are extremely limited; however, the incident reportedly took place inside of the house.

"Through a preliminary investigation, we do believe the stabbing occurred indoors," Toronto police media officer Alex Li confirmed to CBC.

"We're taking this very seriously and we have deployed our available resources to look into the matter... You can expect an active crime scene," Li told CTV

While the case is still under investigation, Toronto Police are urging anyone who may have information to call in.
