Toronto Just Relaxed Parking Enforcement So It's Easier For You To Park For Free

Good news, Toronto drivers: Street parking in the city will now be a little less stressful. 

Mayor John Tory revealed on Wednesday that he had reached out to Police Chief James Ramer about loosening parking enforcement in Toronto during the lockdown.

I asked him if he would consider relaxing parking enforcement. He immediately agreed to do so. Mayor John Tory

"The Parking Enforcement Unit will be commencing an enforcement approach to on-street parking where a high level of discretion will be applied," Toronto Police said to Narcity.

The order will begin effective immediately and remain in place until further notice.

According to police, enforcement efforts will instead target offences that "create safety concerns."

So, you're still going to park downtown, but make sure that you aren't obstructing snow removal or traffic flow if you want to avoid a ticket. 

Toronto loosened its parking enforcement measures during the city's first lockdown in the spring and reinstated them on July 2.
