Beloved Toronto restaurant Randy's Patties announced via Instagram this week that it would be closing its doors, causing widespread heartbreak across the city.
On Thursday, the business revealed that it would be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and would be limiting patty purchases to one dozen per customer as it can't accommodate the "massive influx of customers" that flooded the restaurant to get one last box of patties.
After spending over four decades serving Torontonians, Randy's will officially close its doors on Saturday, February 26.
"Due to a variety of issues, including years of endless Metrolinx construction, 2 years of COVID, labour shortages, and aging owners, we have decided to close our doors and re-evaluate our next steps going forward," the Instagram post reads.
"Our family business is proud to have been a staple here, in the heart of Little Jamaica along Eglinton Ave. West, for over 40 years," it adds.
However, all might not be lost for the iconic restaurant, so long as one of the city's biggest celebs keeps his word.
Etalk anchor Tyrone Edwards posted about the restaurant closing on his Instagram, where Drake commented in the thread. "I’ll buy Randy’s right now," he wrote. Is he serious? Only time will tell.
The owners told CTV News that they have yet to receive a formal offer from Drizzy but are hopeful Randy's can be saved.
"Thank you for all the incredible love and support. We are very thankful to be a part of this amazing community. Thank you for all the great years. Y'all amazing, and we'll chat soon, promise," the restaurant's post concludes.
