Another bout of heavy snowfall in Toronto is on its way and an advisory is in effect.

Environment Canada warns that up to 15 cm of snow will fall between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, with "heavy snow and local blowing snow" reducing visibility on the roads.

The Weather Network predicts that the heaviest snowfall will happen at around 1 p.m. this afternoon, particularly around Oakville and Milton.

In Toronto, the greatest snowfall amounts are expected in western parts of the city, says Environment Canada.

"Rapidly accumulating snow may make travel difficult," says the advisory. "There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic."

There are currently 11 active weather alerts in southern Ontario, including Halton-Peel, York-Durham, London-Middlesex, the City of Hamilton, and Waterloo-Wellington.

The snowstorm will precede some of the coldest winter temperatures we've seen yet this season. Friday will feel like -18 C in Toronto, and the rest of this week won't be much warmer.
