Appa From Kim's Convenience Is In The Newest Mandalorian Episode & Kimchee Is So Proud

It's actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee's dream come true and his co-star can't contain the love

Appa from the hit Toronto sitcom Kim's Convenience has just entered the Star Wars universe, and Kimchee could not be happier for him.

Andrew Phung, who plays Kimchee on the show, sent out a thread of pure love to his co-star, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee on the day the latest episode of The Mandalorian was released on Disney+ in which Lee plays a rebel fighter.

"He owns all the blurays, 4ks digital editions, funko pops, action figures, cups, tshirts, hats, ALL OF IT!" Phung says in his Friday morning ode to Appa. "This isn’t just an incredible award winning actor getting a role he deserves. It’s a nerdy kid, who dreamed of being in Star Wars, GETTING TO BE IN FREAKING STAR WARS!"

Lee is apparently a total Comic Con-style nerd in real life. In the show, he plays rebel pilot Captain Carson Teva in several key scenes with the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda.

He even gets a Skywalker-style trench chase scene, complete with his own target computer.

Last year, Lee revealed that he'd visited the set, invited by a friend who was one of the directors. It looks like he used his trademark Appa charm to sell Disney execs on giving him the role of his dreams.

And Phung is totally here for it.

"From the bottom of my heart," Phung says, "I am so proud and happy for you. It could not have happened to a more talented, hard working, and kind person. I love you brother!"
