Torontonians Keep Having Parties Inside Storage Units & Are Getting Hit With Massive Fines

This is the second time in a week it's happened.

Police officers across the city were kept busy over the weekend ticketing people who refused to abide by the city's gathering size limits.

In one particularly puzzling example, Toronto Police broke up a large gathering in a storage unit on Friday night and one charge was laid.

This is the second time in a week that the police have busted a storage unit party and laid criminal charges as a result.

$10,000 Minimum fine for organizing a party that breaks gathering size limits

Matthew Pegg, the general manager of Toronto’s Office of Emergency Management, told reporters at a press conference on Monday that Toronto Police officers responded to 106 complaints relating to people gathering on private property over the weekend.

Pegg said that 39 charges were laid as a result of investigations into these gatherings.

One of them included the storage unit party which took place on Trethewey Drive near Black Creek Drive.

Under current city regulations, only 10 people or fewer are allowed to gather together in an indoor space.

There is a minimum $10,000 fine for individual organizers of events that break those rules.
