Toronto Police Were Called To Help Multiple Surfers In Distress During Today's Storm

Toronto has seen high winds and heavy rains all day and the conditions caused huge waves on Lake Ontario. 

Toronto Police have responded to two separate calls regarding surfers on the lake during the Ontario storm, with one man reportedly requiring "life-saving measures" from TPS officers.

The police took to Twitter both times to provide updates on the situation.

At 3:20 p.m. on November 15, Toronto Police tweeted that they were responding to reports of five or six kiteboarders in distress in the water at Cherry Beach.

Toronto Police's Marine Unit responded to the first call and had to deliver life-saving procedures to a man on the shore who was later transported to hospital. TPS told Narcity that the man's injuries are "very serious."

In the second call, at 5:00 p.m., they once again tweeted that the Marine Unit had been dispatched to Cherry Beach after a caller told police they were concerned about a windsurfer on the lake.

The caller had apparently not seen the windsurfer, who was wearing a black wetsuit with a fluorescent vest, for some time.

However, police later reported that the windsurfer made it back to shore safely and without injury.

The Ontario storm is expected to continue throughout the night, and damages and power outages have been reported all across the province.
