Police are asking the public for assistance in tracking down a Toronto rapper wanted for first-degree murder, who is believed to be on the run, according to the latest news release.

The suspect is currently wanted after an incident that took place on January 31. TPS went to Jane Street and Falstaff Avenue after receiving multiple reports of gunfire in the area.

"It was reported that a man was attempting to drive his car into the garage of an apartment building at 40 Falstaff Avenue when he was shot at numerous times. As a result of being shot, his vehicle rolled and hit the closed underground garage doors," said police.

The victim was identified as Hashim Omar Hashi and was pronounced dead at the scene after police saw him in the driver's seat with gunshot wounds. The suspect vehicle, which was seen fleeing the scene of the crime, was reportedly found "fully engulfed in flames" at Earl Bales Park.

Hassan Ali -- otherwise known as Toronto-based rapper, Top5, reports CP24 -- was first charged with accessory after the fact to murder, but has since had his charges upgraded to first-degree murder. Top5 posted a story to his Instagram account on June 20 that tagged Vaughan, Ontario as his current location.

However, police believe the suspect has travelled to Kelowna and Calgary, and are asking residents to call 911 immediately if he's spotted.

Ali is considered to be dangerous and violent. Anyone with any information at all is asked to reach out to their local authorities.
