All Toronto Schools Have Just Been Ordered To Close For At Least Two Weeks

The city says that stronger measures are needed to reverse the surge of infection.

On Tuesday, all Toronto schools were ordered to move to remote learning amid rising COVID-19 cases in the city.

Toronto Public Health issued the section 22 order, which will go into effect Wednesday, April 7 at 12:01 a.m.

The city says that "stronger public health measures are required to reverse the surge of infection that the province currently faces."

All schools in the city will be mandated to close with the possibility of returning after April 18, 2021.

"Unfortunately, current circumstances require that difficult decisions must be taken locally to protect all those in our school communities, including students, teachers and staff," says the public health unit.
