The weather in Toronto is about to take a serious turn and it'll go from feeling like spring to freezing temperatures in under 24 hours.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the city warning of "a sharp cold front with strong winds and a sudden temperature drop" for Wednesday and into Thursday.
"A strong cold front is expected to track through southern Ontario this afternoon causing temperatures to drop dramatically along with the development of strong northwesterly winds gusting to 70 or 80 km/h for much of the afternoon and evening," says the government agency.
For Wednesday, there's expected to be a high of 13 C with a chance of showers. Later into the evening, the expected temperature with the wind chill is -13 C, with that same freezing temp expected to hold on until Thursday morning.
Environment Canada warns drivers and pedestrians to be on the lookout.
"The sudden temperature drop may lead to icy surfaces as temperatures fall below the freezing mark through the day," they advise. "Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions."
Temperatures are expected to be more seasonal after the cold snap, with Friday to see a high of 5 C and a low of 1 C, but don't put away your parka just yet — who knows what the rest of the season will bring.
