Toronto Has Only Recorded 1 COVID-19 Outbreak At A Personal Care Salon

It accounts for 0.0018% of Toronto's confirmed COVID-19 workplace outbreaks.

There has only been one reported COVID-19 outbreak at Toronto's personal care service businesses since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the running tally of workplace outbreaks that Toronto keeps, businesses like hairdressers, nail salons, and tattoo parlours only accounted for a single outbreak as of March 30, 2021.

Data from the City shows that 68% of Toronto's total confirmed COVID-19 workplace outbreaks — defined as two or more cases with an epidemiological link — have come from essential businesses like factories, offices and warehouses.

Of Toronto's 44 active outbreaks at businesses with more than 20 employees, 33 are at food processing plants, offices, shipping and distribution facilities, construction companies, manufacturing plants, and warehouses.

Personal care services across the whole province have been ordered to close due to the new Ontario shutdown which began on Saturday, April 3.
