At Vaughan Mills on Black Friday, multiple businesses were not following the COVID-19 restrictions and that resulted in some hefty fines.

York Region shared new COVID-19 enforcement actions. As of 3:00 p.m. ET on November 27, a bunch of businesses were found to be violating the rules set out in the Reopening Ontario Act and Section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

Three stores inside the mall and the mall itself were charged.

$880 fine for multiple businesses in Vaughan Mills

Cellicon, Designer Depot and Haight Ashbury were given fines of $750 plus a surcharge which adds up to $880 each.

Vaughan Mills was also slapped with the same fine.

However, the fine for the shopping centre has been issued three times so the total is $2,640.

On Black Friday, people lined up outside of the mall to get deals and some had been waiting since 5:30 a.m. for an 8:00 a.m. store opening.

Before the annual savings event, Vaughan Mills was trending on Twitter because people were anticipating a surge of shoppers going there from lockdown areas.

In another fine situation, one Costco location in Manitoba got a $5,000 ticket on November 27 for selling non-essential items the day before.
