Laser pointers can be dangerous — especially to aircrafts. An Ontario man is facing charges after pointing a laser at a York Regional Police helicopter.

The suspect is a 31-year-old man from Markham, who police say was standing in a backyard on Vickers Rd., continuously aiming the beam at the helicopter. The video shows the pilot identifying the source.

The authorities entered the backyard and arrested the suspect, who was found to have a "532nM 5mW cw CLASS IIIa laser pointer."

York Police took to Twitter to warn residents that laser pointers can cause temporary blindness and eye damage to pilots.

The suspect has been charged with mischief endangering life, endangering the security of an aircraft in flight under the Aeronautics Act, and obstructing a peace officer.
