The Mix-And-Match Vaccine Trials Need 1,300 Canadians To Join The Clinical Test
Here's who can be eligible to participate.
The Government of Canada will be conducting a new vaccine trial through the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force (CITF) and the Vaccine Surveillance Reference Group (VSRG) to take a look into the effects of "mixing-and-matching" different types of COVID-19 vaccines. This means receiving two different types of approved vaccines for your first and second doses.
The study wants to understand how safe and effective it is to mix and they plan to enroll 1,300 participants from across Canada. They want to enroll their trial participants as soon as possible at "clinical trial sites in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia."
If you're keen to participate, the eligibility criteria include having received your first dose in the past 28 days before signing up or having received no vaccine doses yet.
You also need to be 18 or older, in good health and not pregnant. Finally, you'll have to be available for several clinic visits and a couple of phone check-ins over an 11 or 12-month period.
"You will also be asked to record a diary, where you will note information regarding your symptoms for the first 7 days after your vaccine, and to complete a paper questionnaire twice over the study regarding your opinion about the vaccines," says the participation outline.
