Fall weather is coming, and there's no better way to celebrate the season than wandering quaint streets that make you feel like you've been plopped into a storybook. This small town in B.C. is the perfect day trip from Vancouver to escape the city and embrace the Hallmark-like vibes.

It was named among the spots in Canada with the best quality of life by our Narcity readers, so you may even be tempted to make a move.

Chilliwack has a whole lot going for it. Part charming European village, part sprawling countryside, and part bustling city — it's got a little bit of everything at its doorstep.

It's about an hour and a half away from the major hub of Vancouver, but it offers a slower pace, beautiful surroundings, and a more quaint feel. Nestled in the downtown area is District 1881, a European-inspired neighbourhood with picture-perfect pedestrian alleys and historic buildings.

It's the area you go to for a day of shopping to feel like you're on the set of a Hallmark rom-com.

Especially in the colder months, this spot gives all the cozy small-town vibes you could want. There are cute boutiques, tasty restaurants, and charming cafes set along the streets of Distract 1881.

Around Downtown Chilliwack, you'll see a ton of cool local shops, though, as well as colourful murals that add a vibrancy to the little city.

This time of year is an especially wholesome time to visit and get outside of downtown to experience the nature that awaits. You can soak in the crisp fall air on one of the hiking trails winding around the area. Cheam Lake Wetlands Regional Park is perfect for a peaceful stroll.

Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park is full of beauty, and the park gate is open until October 15 — so get exploring while you can.

If you want to really get into a fall mood, then head to one of the farms here for some autumnal fun.

Chilliwack Corn Maze runs until October 31, and Petey's Pumpkin Patch is open from October 4 until Halloween.

You can even take the self-guided tour around the valley — the Chilliwack Circle Farm Tour – stopping in at the local farms, and taking in the country scenery.

After adventuring outdoors, you can stop and grab a drink at one of the local breweries, like Farmhouse Brewing Co.

Nothing says a wholesome farm day like heading out to Chilliwack.

Before you get going, check out our Responsible Travel Guide so you can be informed, be safe, be smart, and most of all, be respectful on your adventure.
