Finally, you can get something cool in the mail instead of flyers. There's a last-minute election in B.C. this fall and you can get a vote-by-mail package sent to your home. Even if you've never voted by mail-in ballot before, which is basically most of the province, you can do it and it's a lot easier than you might think.

According to Elections BC, the option to stay home and vote is great if you don't want to head to the physical polling stations this fall. Especially, if you have underlying health conditions or are stuck at home self-isolating.

Plus, you even can register to vote online if this is your first rodeo.

Here's how it works:

First, you're going to head to Elections BC and navigate to Online Voter Registration — that's where you can either register to vote or ask for a vote-by-mail package to get sent to you.

Next, get your receipts. You'll have to give them your name, date of birth, address, phone number or email, and an ID. You can use either your driver's license, BCID, SIN or PHN.

Don't worry if the page times out on you, you can always restart.

Hit "Next" at the bottom of the page, and then enter in why you're there, pick "Request a vote-by-mail package and register or update my information" to start the process.

After submitting a captcha, you'll have to read all the eligibility terms like being more than 18 years old and having lived in B.C. for at least 6 months.

Then you'll just add your personal information, as if you were shopping online practically, including the address you want the package sent to.

After reviewing, you'll submit your info and you're done. The whole process takes just a few minutes — unless it's hard for you to remember your postal code.

The provincial election is on October 24, but as soon as you get your voting package send it back ASAP because it has to be in before election day.
