This secret lake with turquoise water in B.C. will make you feel like you're in Thailand

Now that it's summer you may be dreaming about lying on a picturesque beach with white sand and sparkling water.

While you may assume that those places only exist in places like the Caribbean, you don't have to hop on a place because there are beaches in B.C. that are just as tropical.

There's a beach in B.C. that has crystal clear water and stunning views that will make you feel like you're on a trip to Thailand.

About a five-hour drive from Vancouver, north of Kamloops, you'll find Johnson Lake.

Pine trees surround the beautiful lake and the water is turquoise due to the limestone in the area, according to the Johnson Lake Resort website.

It also notes that this lake is unique because the "water supply is from the year-round underground springs and winter snowpack."

Johnson Lake is the perfect place to swim, paddleboard, float and sunbathe with your friends this summer.

Johnson Lake Resort also notes there are no beaches along the lake as trees surround it.

However, you can still spend hours relaxing on the lake.

If you want to make a staycation out of it, you can camp nearby at the Johnson Lake Recreation Site, which is on a first-come-served basis.

Johnson Lake isn't the only tropical-like destination in Vancouver.

After your visit to this area consider travelling to Tribune Bay Park, which is set on Hornby Island — one of B.C.'s Gulf Islands.

This spot has close to 1 kilometre of white sand, near tropical temperatures during the summer and is considered to be one of the warmest saltwater swimming areas in B.C. It's also been dubbed "Little Hawaii" so it's certainly worth a visit.

What's been ranked as the best beach in Canada is also located in B.C. You'll have to take a BC Ferries trip to Vancouver Island to find San Josef Bay in Cape Scott Park. The beach has sandy shores, crisp blue water and rugged coastal views.
